How does booking work?

Pick your dates in the form on the website and send a non-binding inquiry. We usually reply within 24 hours, confirm availability and send payment details. Your booking becomes firm only after our confirmation and payment. The cabin is also listed on Booking.com and e-chalupy.cz.

Question 2

How and when do I pay?

Accepted Answer

Once your dates are confirmed we send you payment instructions. Payment is made in advance by bank transfer. In addition to the stay price you leave a refundable deposit of 3 000 CZK, returned after your stay unless there is any damage.

Question 3

What is the minimum length of stay?

The minimum stay is 2 nights. We do not offer single-night stays.

Question 4

How much is a night and how much is a weekend?

Accepted Answer

The price is 4 000 Kč per night. A Friday–Sunday weekend (2 nights) is a flat 12 000 Kč. Longer stays are charged per night. The booking form calculates the exact price for you.

Question 5

What is included in the price?

Accepted Answer

The price includes electricity, firewood for the fireplace and fire pit, Wi-Fi, parking, use of the two-person kayak and garden games. We charge no cleaning fee. Only dogs are charged extra, plus a refundable deposit.

Is a deposit required?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a refundable deposit of 3 000 CZK is required. It covers any possible damage and is returned in full after your stay if everything is in order.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms depend on how far in advance you cancel. You will find the exact terms on our Booking terms & cancellation policy page. If you need to move your dates, just contact us - we always try to find a solution.

Question 8

Do you charge a cleaning fee?

Accepted Answer

No. We trust our guests and charge no cleaning fee. We only ask that you tidy up after yourselves both inside the cabin and in the garden - washed dishes, rubbish taken out, toys put away - and leave everything as you took it over.

How far in advance can I book?

Accepted Answer

You can book up to 12 months ahead, from tomorrow at the earliest. Available dates are shown in the availability calendar on the website.

Will I get a booking confirmation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After checking availability we send an email confirmation with payment instructions, and before your stay you also receive a detailed guest guide with access codes.

Can you issue a receipt?

Yes, we are happy to issue a receipt. Please mention it in your inquiry or write to info@chatahamrovka.cz.

How do arrival and key collection work?

Accepted Answer

Check-in is contactless. The keys are in a key safe by the entrance and we send you the code in the guide before arrival. You do not have to wait for anyone - just arrive any time from 3:00 PM.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. A different time can sometimes be arranged depending on occupancy - just let us know.

Where do I park and how many cars fit?

You park right by the cabin - on the paved area to the right of the cabin and on the garden just behind the entrance gate. There is room for several cars. Please do not drive further into the garden towards the cabin, to protect the lawn and children playing.

Is late arrival possible?

Yes. Thanks to the contactless key safe by the entrance you can arrive late in the evening. We only ask that you are considerate of the neighbouring cottages at night.

How many people can the cabin sleep?

The cabin comfortably sleeps up to 7 guests. There are two bedrooms (a double bed and three single beds) and two sofa beds in the living room.

How many bedrooms are there and how are they equipped?

Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one with a double bed, one with three single beds. The double bedroom has a ceiling fan that cools the room on hot summer days. Two more beds are provided by the sofa beds in the living room.

Are bedding and towels included?

Yes. The beds are made up with fresh bedding on arrival and there is one towel for each guest. You do not need to bring your own bed linen.

Is the kitchen fully equipped?

Yes. The kitchen has a stove with oven, fridge with freezer, microwave, a Tchibo capsule coffee machine (5 welcome capsules), a moka pot, a toaster and a kettle. Dishes, cutlery and basic kitchen equipment are all provided.

How is the cabin heated and is firewood included?

The main source of heat is the fireplace in the living room. Firewood is free for guests and is stored behind the cabin. Outside the summer months electric space heaters are also available.

Is there Wi-Fi and is it good enough for work?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Wi-Fi is free throughout the cabin. It is fine for e-mail, video calls, ordinary laptop work and streaming films. Bear in mind this is a recreational area in a valley, so do not expect a corporate-grade line.

Is there a TV and a PlayStation?

Yes. The living room has a large flat-screen TV with the OnePlay app for streaming films and series, plus a PlayStation for the whole family. Board games are stored beneath the TV.

Is the tap water drinkable?

The water is suitable for showering, washing and cooking. For drinking we recommend bringing your own bottled water; use boiled water for tea and coffee.

Is there air conditioning?

The cabin has no air conditioning. The double bedroom has a ceiling fan, and thanks to the forest-and-river setting it usually stays pleasant even in summer. We recommend keeping blinds down during the day and airing out in the evening.

What is the outdoor seating like?

The terrace has a bioclimatic pergola for sitting out in any weather, sun loungers on the lawn, plus a grill, an outdoor fire and a fire pit. The terrace looks out towards the river.

How far is the river from the cabin?

The Sázava River flows just a few metres from the garden. We have our own gate to the water and a private dock you reach straight from the garden.

How deep is the Sázava and can you swim by the cabin?

Accepted Answer

Depth and riverbed change with the flow and the season, so do not dive head-first from the dock. The stretch by the cabin is good for a swim and a cool-off, but for children and weaker swimmers we recommend a life jacket and constant supervision.

Is the kayak included and for how many people?

Yes. We have a two-person kayak for guests and its use is free, included in the price. It is secured with a cable lock and you get the code in the guide. Two life jackets are now available too (60-80 kg and 80-100 kg); for children and smaller builds we recommend bringing your own.

Do you have your own dock?

Yes, the cabin has a private dock right on the Sázava. It is ideal for anglers and kayakers and as a spot to sit by the water. The dock, steps and bank can be wet and slippery - please take care.

Can I rent a paddleboard from you?

We do not have a paddleboard at the cabin - a two-person kayak is available for free. You are welcome to bring your own paddleboard and launch it from our dock. Boat and paddleboard rentals can also be found nearby on the Sázava.

Can I fish by the cabin?

The dock is a great spot for anglers, letting you fish right from the cabin.

Do you lend life jackets?

Yes, we now provide two life jackets for guests - one for 60-80 kg and one for 80-100 kg. For children and anyone outside these weight ranges we recommend bringing your own. Being on the water is always at your own risk.

How do I get across the river to Hombre Saloon?

Hombre Saloon is right across the river. You can paddle over by kayak or use the local ferry. It is a popular spot for food and drinks with a riverside atmosphere.

Can I bring a dog and how much does it cost?

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. The fee is 200 Kč per dog per night, up to 3 dogs. The grounds are fully fenced, so your dog can roam the garden freely. Please clean up after your dog; dogs are not allowed on beds or sofas.

Is the cabin suitable for small children?

Yes. The grounds are fenced and safe, the garden has a swing, a slide and an inflatable pool, and a baby cot is available to borrow. Near the river and dock, however, constant adult supervision is required.

Yes, we are happy to lend a baby cot for the little ones. Please mention it when booking so we have it ready.

Are the grounds fenced?

Yes, the whole property is fenced. It provides privacy and quiet and is safe for children and pets. The gate to the river additionally has a combination lock so it stays closed.

What is there for children in the garden?

The garden has a swing for toddlers, a swing with a slide for older children and, in summer, an inflatable pool. Outdoor games are stored in the cabinet under the terrace.

Where is the nearest shop?

The nearest grocery shop (Coop) is in Hněvkovice. For bigger shopping head to Zruč nad Sázavou (~10 km) or Ledeč nad Sázavou (~15 km). We recommend stocking up on the way.

On foot you can reach the Staré časy campsite with a pub. Across the river is Hombre Saloon with riverside seating (by kayak or ferry). Nearby there is also the popular Hospůdka u Petra. More restaurants are in Zruč and Ledeč nad Sázavou. See our Surroundings page for tips.

Where is the nearest pharmacy or doctor?

The nearest pharmacy and medical services are in Zruč nad Sázavou (~10 km) and Ledeč nad Sázavou (~15 km). In an emergency, call 112.

How far is the cabin from Prague?

It is about 80 km from Prague, roughly an hour and fifteen minutes by car. The cabin lies in Kovací Hamr near Vlastějovice in the Central Bohemian Region, right in the Sázava valley.

Is there mobile signal at the cabin?

There is mobile signal in the area, plus free Wi-Fi at the cabin. As this is a valley in nature, signal strength may vary locally depending on your operator.

When is the best time to stay?

Every season has its charm. Summer is ideal for swimming and the river, spring and autumn for hiking and mushroom picking, winter for quiet time by the fireplace. We rent the cabin year-round.

Can we grill and light a fire?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is a grill, an outdoor fire and a fire pit - use them only in their designated places. Firewood is free; for the grill we also recommend bringing briquettes or charcoal. Do not light a fire in strong wind, drought or during an official fire ban.

Can we pitch a tent on the property?

Camping on the property is not permitted. Only guests listed in the reservation may stay overnight, and only inside the cabin. The garden is for relaxation and normal use.

Is there a camera system at the cabin?

There are two outdoor cameras in the garden (the driveway/entrance and the kayak area) for property security. The cabin interior and private parts of the garden are not covered by cameras.

Is smoking allowed in the cabin?

Accepted Answer

Smoking is not allowed inside the cabin. You may smoke outside on the terrace or in the garden; please use the ashtray and extinguish butts fully. Do not throw them into the grass, forest or fire pit.

Is the cabin wheelchair accessible?

The cabin is not fully wheelchair accessible - the bedrooms are upstairs and the path to the river is sloping with steps. If you have accessibility questions, write to us and we will gladly advise.

Day visitors are welcome. Overnight stays, however, are only for guests listed in the reservation. Larger celebrations or events are possible only by prior arrangement.

Do we have to clean before leaving?

We charge no cleaning fee; we only ask that you clean up after yourselves both inside the cabin and in the garden - washed dishes, rubbish taken out, swept floors, games and furniture back in place. Simply leave the cabin and garden as you took them over.
